Stretchy Pants and Paint On The Walls

I did something today that I have never done before….I shopped in a maternity store. Yep, I bought stretchy pants!  And to tell you the truth I don’t know if I will ever go back to normal jeans.  It is so wonderful to have a large spandex band holding up my jeans.  Before I went into the maternity store I stopped into a few of my favorite stores and left very discouraged after seeing that nothing really fit me right. Once I was in the maternity store I was soo encouraged, everything was long and stretchy, perfect for my growing belly!

Onto some other changes.  The student housing project I have been working on with Melodie from Primitive Modern Design is coming along.  This past week our lighting was installed and paint went up on the walls.  I love seeing paint go up, that is when the transformation really starts to come to life.  Here are some pictures of the progress.

We had two large drum lights installed over the desks in one of the main leasing centers. They need a little adjusting but they are going to look so good once the new furniture is in place.  The blue wall in the background will be painted Tango, a fabulous orange color by Sherwin Williams.

Remember in my last post I said we were having light boxes similar to these made.

The artist that made them did a wonderful job and they look amazing in the other leasing center.

The walls  have been updated from a muddy yellow, green to a soothing gray.

This space will serve as a lounge area right inside the roof top pool on one of the properties.  I can ‘t wait for you to see the new furniture in place.

What an awesome view out onto the pool that overlooks The Drag right off of the UT campus.

This fitness center once looked like a skating rink with purple and lime green walls.  It has now been updated with a crisp gray and cool blue.  The blue wall will sport a hand painted longhorn mural painted by a local San Marcos artist.

There are many other changes underway and I will update as soon as I can.  Many people have asked me about the nursery and I am dying to get started on it.  Can you believe I haven’t done anything to it?!?  I can’t, it so out of character for me but once I get moving on it I will post pictures.

Ok that is all for now.  Take care!

Lauren

What I’ve Been Up To

Hi everyone! It has been a while since I last wrote, I have been super busy with work.  The baby is growing and I feel great, I love being pregnant! Earlier today we watched What To Expect When Expecting which is so fitting for where we are right now in life.  It was a great movie, if you haven’t seen it yet it is a must see.

Back in August I was really wrestling with what this next season would look like.  God had taken me into a long period of rest that forced me to stop and wait for Him to lead me.  Even though things have picked up in my life, I still feel I’m in a place of rest, it is the strangest thing, it is something I have never experienced before.  My life is moving quickly but my heart, mind and soul are moving at a restful, steady pace.  I am really ENJOYING life!  I am content.

So what have I been up to?  Well around the time when I was wrestling with what this next season would look like I connected with another local designer, Melodie Schleder with Primitive Modern Design.  Melodie is a super talented designer with AMAZING STYLE!  I feel so blessed to have crossed paths with her.  Melodie brought me on board with PMD to assist her in a large student housing project in downtown Austin.  It has been a blast working with her.  The name Primitive Modern really captures Melodie’s style.  You can see some of her work and style at primitivemoderndesign.com or on Facebook.  Melodie also owns a booth at my favorite place to shop, Wimberley Market Days,
booth number 307.

Check it out next time you’re there.

Here is a glimpse of some of the lighting going into the student housing project.
A local San Marcos artist who created this sign for a local hotspot, Zelicks

created some light boxes like these for us that will hang in one of the leasing centers.

We will also be installing oversized drum lighting

and one of these pendant lights made out of recycled aluminum pinwheels.

What I thought was going to be tough and challenging season is turning out to be one of my best!

White, My New Favorite Color

I have always loved using the color red in my home decor.  My eye is always drawn to red fabrics, pictures with red objects,  and red accessories.  Red, I just love it! But lately there is another color in the picture, white.  Yep red has a little competition.  I love how white is classic, clean, and refreshing, and different shades of white just make my heart go pitter-patter.  When it came time to come up with a look for our master bedroom, white was what I wanted.  I haven’t finished decorating it but it has come a long way over the past couple of months and I wanted to share the progress.

Remember I was going to try to accomplish the Swedish Country Gustavian style.

Here is what I have come up with so far.

Remember this shelf? It was sitting by the curb.

Voila! All it needed was a little paint and

sand paper!

We have had this dresser for a while and I painted it black years ago.

All it needed was an update.

I bought this picture at Goodwill for the frame.

It was the perfect fit for one of my bridal portraits.

These mirrors were taken from the vanity I cut apart to create my sister-in-law’s bedside tables.

Stay tuned for more updates on the progress.
